ModelSheet Collaborating Authors Program

ModelSheet Software seeks spreadsheet authors with ideas for great customizable spreadsheet templates that have revenue potential. Collaborating authors contribute domain and design expertise, and contribute in varying degrees in marketing the templates. If you are selected for the program, we will take the lead in implementing your ideas in state-of-the-art customizable templates using ModelSheet technology, and in marketing the templates to the public.

The relationship is analogous to that between a book author and a book publisher. The author leads the design effort, participates in marketing the product, and gets an authoring royalty. The publisher edits the work, produces the product, and does most of the marketing and business administration. In addition, ModelSheet Software contributes its unique technology and expertise on how to create customizable templates.

Collaborating authors and ModelSheet Software work together in four areas.

1. Product Design Implementation

   Authors bring domain expertise in fields such as financial management, real estate, investment management. ModelSheet brings broad experience and revolutionary tools for developing analytic models in spreadsheets. ModelSheet Software brings expertise in implementing the designs as customizable templates using our innovative technology to offer users new-to-the-world flexibility and ease of use.

2. Marketing

   ModelSheet Software has ongoing marketing programs to attract a wide audience of potential users to its template website. Authors advise us on how to reach the right markets, and they are encouraged to promote the templates by writing articles, delivering seminars, and other means.

3. Selling, pre- and post-sales support

   In the event that the author’s expertise is needed to answer pre-sales and post-sale support questions, the collaborating author provides that support.

4. Administration

   This activity includes keeping records, paying sales taxes, maintaining source code for the products. Work in this area is usually performed by ModelSheet Software.

1. ModelSheet templates are extremely customizable.

   Users can customize a template by filling in a simple form, without editing a spreadsheet. This includes editing time series, dimensions, and turning on/off major features of the model. ModelSheet technology makes it easy to offer multiple variants of a template from one underlying model. When users want more customizations, we offer consulting services to make the customizations.

2. ModelSheet templates are more understandable to users.

   Each template has Excel comments for each occurrence of each variable, and a glossary of comments for all variables and dimensions in the model. Each model is accompanied by a listing of the named variables and symbolic formulas that define the model in ModelSheet.

3. ModelSheet templates offer unprecedented value to template users.

   ModelSheet’s model-based authoring approach builds models that are better structured through a highly automated approach to building and editing spreadsheet models.

The agreement between authors and ModelSheet Software should cover intellectual property rights, rights to use covered works, distribution rights, and allocation of revenues between the parties.
